Overview

It only took one viral TikTok video to propel Dutch singer Yves Berendse to stardom. His single, Terug in de tijd, skyrocketed to number one on the Dutch Top 40 and stayed there for six weeks in mid-May 2024. This gave him the rare opportunity to fulfil a boyhood dream – to play at the iconic Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam, a stage that has previously hosted many of his artistic heroes.

A concert of this magnitude demanded a stage design unlike any other. Yves’ booking agent, Agents After All, came up with an ambitious vision, and reached out to our partner, MHB AV, a renowned Dutch visual integration specialist, to help them realise it. Could they create a massive Y-shaped LED structure for Yves’ sold-out concerts at the prestigious Ziggo Dome? It was a very big ask, but the answer was a resounding yes!

Working with the INFiLED team as their LED screen supplier, MHB AV transformed this bold creative concept into reality, delivering a stunning 14-metre-tall Y-shaped LED wall that became the visual centrepiece for Yves’ two sold-out shows.

This is how INFiLED’s AR Series helped MHB AV turn a viral success into a memorable live experience, captivating over 30,000 fans across two nights.

 The Partnership

This project exemplified the power of true collaboration, bringing together multiple specialists to serve one shared vision. At the heart of the operation was MHB AV, our primary partner renowned for delivering high-quality visual solutions across exhibitions, sports, festivals, TV, and live events.

With their extensive experience merging the technical with the creative, not to mention deep expertise in LED panel installations, MHB AV was the ideal company to bring this aspiring concept to life using INFiLED’s premium LED products.

Agents After All served as the driving force behind the project. As one of the Netherlands’ leading full-service music companies and Yves Berendse’s booking agency, they regularly promote shows at premier venues including the Ziggo Dome. Their established relationship with the artist and intimate knowledge of the venue’s capabilities proved invaluable in shaping the project’s scope and timeline.

Supporting the core team were additional experts,  including lighting and audio technicians, as well as designers from Rock Solid Stage, who were tasked with creating decorative wooden frames to complement the Y-frame LED installation.

Challenges

Creating a show-stopping LED installation for one of the Netherlands’ most prestigious venues presented a number of unique challenges for MHB AV, ones that demanded out-of-the-box solutions:

  • The first time

Building the enormous Y-shaped LED construction was uncharted territory. There were no existing templates or best practices to follow. While standard rectangular and curved LED installations are commonplace, creating a structurally sound, visually seamless Y-shape required careful engineering and creative problem-solving.

  • Time constraint

The timeline was as ambitious as the design itself. With just one day allocated for the entire setup, there was zero margin for error. On top of this, multiple technical teams needed to work simultaneously on the same stage.

  • A tight tango

The Y-structure featured decorative wooden side panels that needed to be installed between each row of LED panels. This meant the LED installation and design teams had to be perfectly synchronised, working in alternating phases throughout the build day. It demanded a high level of coordination and efficiency across the board.

Approach

From the initial concept meetings with Agents After All and the lighting designer, MHB AV worked collaboratively to refine the dimensions and placement of the Y-structure, ensuring it would deliver maximum visual impact while remaining technically feasible.

The planning phase was meticulous. They created detailed technical drawings using Vectorworks, incorporating actual INFiLED LED panel dimensions to ensure precision. These drawings became the blueprint for all parties, proving especially valuable for the engineering and construction teams, as well as the Rock Solid Stage team who needed to incorporate the side panel decorative elements.

To minimise risk and optimise efficiency, they built a prototype section in their warehouse. This allowed them to test structural integrity, assess build speed, and identify any potential issues before arriving at the venue. The prototype revealed that while the build process was highly efficient, additional structural support using truss and scaffolding elements would be essential behind the screen.

The Solution

To bring this immense vision to life, we recommend our ever-reliable and highly customisable AR Series, specifically the AR3.9 panels.

The 100x50cm units proved to be just the right fit for this unique application – the towering 14-metre-high, 4-metre-wide Y-shape that dominated the stage. The eye-catching structure served as an instantly recognisable visual element complementing and reinforcing the artist’s brand.

There were three key reasons why the AR Series was our go-to choice for this stunning centrepiece:

  • High quality visuals

Of all the products in our range, the AR Series is perhaps the best suited for the rental industry, steadily gaining a reputation for not only its reliability and customisability, but its pristine output. With a 3.9mm pixel pitch delivering crisp, detailed visuals and a brightness level of 1200 nits, these panels ensured excellent visibility even under the Ziggo Dome’s intense stage lighting.

  • Mounting versatility

A crucial technical component was the AR Series’ M10 mounting holes, each measuring 10mm in diameter. They provide unprecedented flexibility for custom installations.

Unlike standard staging systems, they allow engineering teams to create virtually any shape or configuration, giving them complete creative freedom. In this instance, where a tricky Y shape was needed, this capability was highly appreciated by the MHB AV build team. As account and project manager Thom Althuis of MHB AV put it:

One of the main challenges was the tight build schedule — we had just one day to complete the entire setup. Several technical teams were working on the same stage simultaneously. Because the Y had decorative panels on the sides, we had to coordinate closely with the scenic team. After each row of LED was installed, they would immediately follow up with the decor elements. Thanks to the M10 mounting holes in the AR3.9 panels, this process was seamless and efficient.”

  • Seamless integration

The AR 3.9 panels feature magnet-assisted assembly and positioning pins. On the ground, this enabled rapid and precise installation, both essential given the tight setup timeline. The fast-lock system allowed for one-handed operation, while the lightweight design (just 12.46kg per panel) reduced strain on both crew and venue infrastructure.

In addition, the structure panels were paired with INFiLED’s purpose-built transport dollies, allowing the MHB AV team to transport the screens in pre-rigged mode. This exponentially sped up assembly once they reached the venue, a welcome compatibility that contributed to streamlining the entire process, from transport to installation.

Result

The completed Y-structure was a stunning sight to behold, wonderfully encapsulating the energy of Yves Berendse’s show and enhancing the audience’s experience, especially those located at the back of the venue.

All stakeholders shared overwhelmingly positive feedback about the project:

Everyone — from our client to the lighting designer, the artist himself, and the audience was thrilled with the result. The massive INFiLED AR3.9 Y-shape became an iconic visual element of the show and was widely praised.” shared by Thom.

Technically, the AR3.9 panels delivered flawless performance throughout both concerts, providing crisp visuals and reliable operation. The efficient build process – facilitated by the panel’s intuitive design and the M10 mounting system – also ensured MHB AV’s tight one-day setup was completed without complications.
