Heritage Meets Innovation: INFiLED LEDs Transform Murcia Hub

Overview
It was a big ask – to help position the historically-rich city of Murcia, Spain as a future-forward destination known for its digital innovation in the content creation, production and e-sport space, all within 60 days!
But it was a challenge the INFiLED team readily embraced in partnership with our partners, Dominion, a renowned systems integrations specialist, and B-Tech, an award-winning AV mounting solutions company.
Together, we successfully won an EU-backed government tender to help transform the historic Artillery Barracks in Murcia into a technological hub outfitting a photography studio and gaming arena.
Here we explore how the integration of INFiLED’s DB, DBmk2, and AR Series LED screens—amounting to a total installation of up to 700 cabinets— into each bespoke space that not only enables cultural, artistic and digital creation, but fosters deep community engagement and social enterprise, all while respecting the historical significance of the beautiful building in which it’s housed.
The Partnership
The project was a true collaborative effort with multiple partners working by INFiLED’s side to service our end client, the Murcia City Council.
Our primary partner, Dominion, was the driving force in applying for the government tender, engaging our Spanish team for additional support. Founded in 1999, they are a premium systems integration company offering end-to-end services and projects across multiple sectors. Using a 360-degree approach, Dominion has over 1000 clients and 12000 employees worldwide.
Due to the unique requirements of this project – namely restrictions relating to the historic space – we also sought specialised support from B-Tech, an AV mounting solutions provider, recognised worldwide for their reliability and design aesthetics.

Challenges
Designing and installing the LED screens for the Murcia Audiovisual Hub’s photographic studio and gaming arena came with several unique challenges for our three-part team:
1. Heritage meet high-tech
Bringing the latest AV technology into a heritage-listed landmark is never straightforward. The Artillery Barracks had strict preservation rules, meaning the LED screens couldn’t touch the building structure. As such, a conventional installation was off the table. Every bracket, cable, and cabinet had to be engineered to respect the site’s historical integrity, all while delivering a modern digital experience.
2. The squeeze is real
Space was at a premium in both areas. The rooms demanded a compact, adaptable AV solution that wouldn’t sacrifice performance or aesthetics. Every millimetre mattered, so standard bulky systems simply wouldn’t fit. We had to think small, but deliver big.
3. Ready for anything (and anyone)
As a public hub open to all ages and varied events, each installation would see children, creators, gamers and other guests interact with the screens daily. The solution needed to withstand accidental knocks, curious hands, and the wear and tear of high use.
4. Two rooms, different requirements
This wasn’t a one-size-fits-all project. The photography studio needed immersive, high-resolution visuals for content creators, while the gaming arena demanded a large dynamic display for e-sports and community events. Each space brought its own technical and operational demands.
5. Time sensitive
One of the key requirements to secure government funding was the project had to be completed and delivered before the end of December 2024, within 60 days of its start date. It was no small task, given the complex nature of the project’s design, production and installation.
Approach
True partnership is the foundation of every successful project. From the outset, we worked hand-in-hand with Dominion to fully understand the unique requirements and ambitions of the Murcia City Council.
Time was of the essence with only 60 days to deliver, so there was no room for error or delay. We made this project a top priority at every level of our organisation. Every detail, from the curvature of the studio screen to the durability of the gaming display, was carefully engineered to fit both the technical brief and the architectural constraints of the historic Artillery Barracks.
Our support continued from the factory door to on-the-ground assistance to ensure quick and seamless installation. The result was a true collaboration—one that leveraged Dominion’s strategic end-to-end project expertise, INFiLED’s technical resources and tailored support, and B-Tech’s bespoke mounting products to deliver a premium solution appropriate to the unique space.

The Solution
To address the multiple challenges in this project, we deployed a carefully curated combination of products from our extensive LED range, specifically from our DB, DBmk2, and AR Series, resulting in a total installation of up to 700 cabinets. Each was chosen for their unique strengths and proven reliability in demanding environments.
Photography Studio InstallationBackground
At the heart of the studio stands a sweeping 12×4 metre curved LED wall from the DBmk2 Series, featuring a razor-sharp 1.9mm pixel pitch and an impressive 6144×2048 resolution. While beautiful to look at, the 60-degree curve allows for immersive wraparound visuals while respecting the strict heritage requirements of the Artillery Barracks.
Thanks to the DBmk2’s ultra-compact stacking system and B-Tech’s purpose-built mounting, the screen slots perfectly into the space, avoiding any contact with the historic structure; an imperative requirement of the project.
Ceiling
Overhead, 6×3 metre AR Series LED ceiling panels (3.9mm pixel pitch, 1536×768 pixels) bring dynamic lighting and visual effects into play. The AR Series is renowned for its INFINITE COLORS palette and high refresh rates, making it a favourite for stage and studio environments where creative flexibility is key.
Sides
Completing the studio’s immersive setup are two 3×3 metre DBmk2 Series side panels (1.9mm pixel pitch, 1536×1536 pixels each), comprising 36 cabinets per side. The DBmk2’s high-contrast, ultra-black surface delivers deep vivid visuals from every angle, while its compact stacking system is ideal for the Barracks’ limited spaces.
Portable Screens
In addition to the fixed installation, we also provided a complete portable display kit consisting of 96 cabinets, a Novastar LED processor, a stacking system, and custom flight cases for easy transport and storage. Our experts conducted comprehensive training for the studio staff on how to set up the system whenever needed.
This portable solution offers maximum flexibility for various scenarios, such as presentations at events.
Gaming Arena Installation
A large-format, flare LED screen from the DB Series was the right choice for the gaming arena. Standing 18×4 metres with a 2.6mm pixel pitch and striking 6912×1536 resolution, it comprises a total of 288 cabinets. With a high refresh rate, heightened contrast levels, sturdy die-cast aluminium frame and advanced thermal management, it’s a workhorse for high-traffic and high-energy environments like gaming events, tournaments and community gatherings.
As to the issue of risk of physical damage from public interaction, every display in the project comes with INFiLED’s proprietary SolidSkin Technology. A proprietary, ultra-strong adhesive that forms a solid protection layer, it shields the LED surface from bumps, scratches, and curious hands, with exceptional durability.

Result
Both spaces are now open for local content creators, artists, students, gamers and community members, giving them free access to world-class AV facilities right in the heart of a historic landmark. The photography studio enables high-quality photography, video, and digital media production that promotes Murcia’s rich heritage and contemporary vibrancy.
Meanwhile, the gaming area is a focal point for the local e-sports community. It’s not just supporting the scene, it’s amplifying it by drawing new talent and audiences from across the region.
There’s no doubt these beautiful spaces will strengthen Murcia’s position as a forward-thinking, digitally advanced city that is well-versed in blending the old with the new, enhancing its reputation both nationally and internationally.
This project is an exemplary example of the versatility and customisability of not only INFiLED’s premium LED screen product range, but our support. We can adapt to even the trickiest project request, tailoring solutions to meet the unique needs of each one.
