Education Technology Case Study: LED xR Studio at DCDS Michigan

Overview
INFiLED’s fine-pitch LED solutions were installed earlier this year at Detroit Country Day School in Michigan, an institution known for its innovative approach to liberal arts education, including an award-winning film program.
DCDS Trustee Danialle Karmanos and her husband Peter, gifted this new xR studio for the school to include INFiLED’s DBmk2 1.9mm pixel pitch product in an impressive 26ft by 8ft(19.32 m2) LED volume, running at a 4K resolution (3840 x 2160). This studio addition to the school is already transforming educational experiences across various grade levels.
The xR environment is part of a larger complex called ‘The Studios’ which includes a vodcasting studio and VR lab. The donor-led project represents a significant advancement in PreK-12 educational technology and creates opportunities for students to engage with professional-level production tools at DCDS.
The Studios Space
The overall goal for ‘The Studios’ is to create a space not only for film and content capture, but as an advanced teaching environment as well. The school’s ongoing relationship with Brompton Technology remains a crucial component of their success, and how INFiLED became the LED solutions provider due to our growing partnership with Brompton.
The studio’s technical framework includes a RED camera with Mo-Sys tracking system, Disguise media servers, Brompton 4K Tessera SX40 LED video processor and two Tessera XD 10G data distribution units that work seamlessly with INFiLED’s LED display.
